On February 13th at Gracie Mansion, Mayor Eric Adams hosted the Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE) Excellence Awards to honor the outstanding achievements of M/WBEs in New York City. Several initiatives of the Adams Administration, including the Local Law 1 Program and OneNYC were created specifically to increase contracting opportunities for M/WBEs with the city. Through the OneNYC program the city has achieved its goal of awarding M/WBEs $25 billion in contracts, three years ahead of schedule.
During the awards program, Mayor Adams expressed his gratitude to all participants and awardees, acknowledging their significant contributions to the city’s economic vibrancy.
One of the honorees, Liz Velez, said of the event, "We're celebrating tonight the opportunity programs that open the door of inclusion in New York City."
In attendance were many city officials and community leaders, showing their support for this year’s honorees, recognizing their hard work and impact on New York City’s business landscape.

Honoree Inez Dickens said she shares her award with everyone fighting for these businesses. She told the crowd, "I accept this on behalf of each of you that has worked and fought so hard in the vineyard like the Velez Organization to see that we get our fair share, that the MWBEs get their fair share."
The M/WBE Excellence Awards serve to reiterate the city’s dedication to economic equity and celebrate the diverse enterprises that contribute to New York City’s dynamic economy.
